Couch Surfing
I suppose I have something to thank school for after all....after paying $3,000 this semester, I finally found something valuable to me. A website. From a book we read. It's called www.couchsurfing.org and it's amazing. You can pretty much go anywhere with anyone at anytime. You search for a region, a state, a city, and lastly, a person hosting their couch. There are numerous types of ways to determine what kind of person you will be staying with. They have references, vouchers, verifications, etc. Some people meet these requirements. Some don't. It's up to you what risk you are willing to take. And since you are a guest in their home, you "technically" don't have to pay. But even if you did, it's a couch, not a hotel. Hotel= $$$; Couch= cheap. I really think that ideas such as this website, coming together, present us with new opportunities. Especially people strapped for cash but with a taste for adventure. Yeah, I know...that sounds totally cheesy. But really, that is what this project has become.
I think if society comes together to create more projects such as this, we can really help each other out. Think of websites like Yelp or Ask. People will review things and answer questions, often times for no external reward, all to help other people out. Had a terrible dining experience? Bad review is the best revenge. Went to a great hair salon? Positive review is the best tip. Think http://www.patientslikeme.com/. Think http://www.giveaminute.info/. These are all projects that have become reality to make life better and easier for society. It's amazing that when we all are willing to come together and help one another out for a greater good, rather than screw each other over, the great things that can be accomplished. Couch Surfing is just another great for for opportunity. It wouldn't be possible if everyone in the world was as evil as we think. Just goes to show, with websites and organizations such as these, that there is still good in the world. You just have to know where to look.
And just for fun, don't forget to check out http://beforeidieiwantto.org/usa_other.html as well as http://www.postsecret.com/.
And http://trashthedress.wordpress.com/. They did a shoot out by the Salton Sea!!! How cool is that?! What a perfect location for a photo shoot such as this. <3 <3 <3 I LOVE the Salton Sea =D
